This weeks smart home crowd funded candidate is ‘Eve’, an 8 or 16 zone intelligent irrigation controller.
Eve communicates with its partner, the ‘Adam’, a wireless capacitive moisture and temperature sensor. The Zigbee link has a range of around 300 feet and battery life is quoted as over a year. Adam tells Eve when to water and how long for, by offering real-time soil moisture data at 2 different depths. The system is a drop-in replacement for your current watering controller and is compatible with all 24v valves.
Eve only waters when you need it, for as long as you need it. You can install up to 8 Adam sensors so that Eve can independently customise the schedule for all of your 8 zones.
Eve is also developed to work with SmartThings to connect to your home automation network, the Internet and weather predictions
Since SmartThings is an open platform, you can also build customized applications to make Eve interact with any connected device in your home, so you can tailor Eve to your customized needs. Eve connects to any device on the SmartThings network, which includes hundreds of other devices, including Sonos, Philips Hue, DropCam and Belkin WeMo
Eve works through iOS and Android apps and you can also use IFTTT to create logic and the makers say it also supports Thread.
